Berhampur, Sep 29: To foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and a vibrant startup culture among students in higher educational institutions, the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha, sponsored a high-level “Faculty Mentor Development Program” (FMDP). The intensive residential training program was conducted from September 19 to 27 at the prestigious Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) campus in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
A select cohort of 40 faculty members nominated from various state-run universities and premier autonomous colleges across Odisha participated in this state-level capacity building initiative. Representing Berhampur University, Dr. Sandip K. Dash from the Department of Zoology and Dr. Aditya K. Panda from the Department of Biotechnology were nominated by the Department of Higher Education and successfully completed the program.
The training was directed by EDII Project Director Prof. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, while the participating mentors engaged in intellectual deliberations and strategic sessions with EDII Director General Dr. Sunil Shukla. The curriculum was carefully curated to address startup ecosystem development, business modeling, design thinking, intellectual property, and early-stage mentorship.
The core objective of the program is to equip faculty members to establish and operate active Entrepreneurship Development Cells (EDCs) and pre-incubation hubs on campus. Serving as trained nodal faculty mentors, they will guide students in translating scientific research and academic concepts into viable enterprise solutions—empowering graduates to evolve from “job seekers into job creators.”
The university administration, faculty colleagues, and students warmly congratulated Dr. Dash and Dr. Panda on their achievement, noting that their specialized training will significantly catalyze Berhampur University’s research, innovation, and startup ecosystem.
