Berhampur, : One-day National Seminar on “Viksit Bharat 2047: Implications of Union Budget and Odisha State Budget 2024” jointly organised by the P.G Department of Economics and Commerce, Berhampur University, Bhanja Bihar, Odisha on 10th August 2024. Honorable vice chancellor Prof. Geetanjali Dash, former Finance Minister Panchanan Kanungo and other dignitaries inaugurated the seminar. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Sudhakar Patra, conference convener and Head of the Dept of Economics. The Organizing Secretary Dr. Mrutyunjay Swain, Professor and Head of the Dept. of Economics addressed the delegates and introduced the guests and themes of the seminar. Many eminent speakers and guests including the Patron Prof. Sukanta Kumar Tripathy, Chairman, PG Council, Prof. Geetanjali Dash, the chief patron and vice chancellor, Berhampur University addressed the delegates. Prof. Prafulla Dhal Member Board of Director, Jagadguru Kripalu University, Odisha acted as the Guest of Honour of the inaugural function and Mr. Panchanan Kanungo, Former Finance Minister, Govt. of Odisha addressed the delegates as the Chief Guest of the function. At the end of the inaugural function, the vote of thanks was offered by the joint Seminar Organising Secretary Mr. Sakti Ranjan Dash, Coordinator of the Dept of Commerce.
More than 60 paper contributors along with distinguished dignitaries, guests, research scholars and over 100 PG students and research scholars had attended the seminar. The seminar provided a forum for the dissemination ways and means to achieve Biksit Bharat Goals and the impetus provided in the union budget and state budget 2024-25. The seminar consisted on two technical sessions, and one panel discussion, besides inaugural and valedictory functions.
The panel discussion was chaired by Prof. Bhagabat Patra, Adjunct Professor, Dept of Economics, BU. Four Panelists were: Mr. Panchanan Kanungo, Former Finance Minister, Govt. of Odisha; Prof. Prafulla Dhal, Member Board of Director Jagadguru Kripalu University, Odisha and Former GM & State Head, CSR & Sustainability of JK Paper Mills Ltd; Prof. Prakash Chandra Misra, Former Professor, Dept. of Commerce, Berhampur University, Former President, BUAA, Berhampur University and Dr. Bibhu Prasad Sahu, Founder & CEO, Youth for Social Development & Consultant at World Bank
The 1st technical session was chaired by Prof. Purushottam Sahu, Former Associate Professor, Gopalpur College, Gopalpur. The session was co-chaired by Prof. Umesh Chandra Panigrahi, Kalam Institute of Technology, Berhampur. Dr. Venkateswara Rao Bhanotu, Dept. of Commerce, Berhampur University acted as the session coordinator and Braja Sundar Pani acted as the Rapporteur of the session.
The 2nd technical session was chaired by Dr. Sharada Prasad Sahoo and Co-chaired by Dr. Bishnu C Behera. Srikant Sahu Dept. of Economics, Berhampur University acted as the session coordinator and Ajit Pagal acted as the Rapporteur of the session.
Many important issues were discussed including the Goals, pathways, challenges and Opportunities for Vikasit Bharat 2047, sectoral alllocations for different sectors such as agriculture, fishery, industry, environment, Regional Development , tribal development, employment and skills development of youth, Economic growth and infrastructure development, Comprehensive analysis of taxation and tax reforms, and Environment And Sustainability
