Berhampur, 15/03 : Today, a cancer awareness program was organized at Berhampur University. The event was organized by the San and Neel Foundation in collaboration with H.G. C Panda Cancer Hospital, Cuttack. The theme of the program was “Cancer Facts and Myths”. It took place in the new conference hall of the university at approximately three o’clock in the afternoon. The program was attended by Professor Sushant Kumar Baral, Chairman of the Post Graduate Council, and Dr. Srigopal Mohanty from H.G.C Panda Cancer Hospital Center. Rashmirekha Jena, a faculty member, introduced the guests, while Prof. Sushant Kumar Baral welcomed everyone with an opening speech. Dr. Shri Mohanty, the keynote speaker, emphasized the importance of cancer awareness and suggested that 40% of cancers can be prevented through awareness and dietary modifications. He also discussed the genetic nature of cancer, emphasizing that it is not an infectious disease. Dharma Rao, Chairman of San & Neel Foundation, briefly shared his perspectives on deadly diseases like cancer. The guests were felicitated by Professor Sushant Kumar Baral. The program was supervised by Dr. Bandita Kumari Panda, Director of the Research Center, Department of Women’s Studies, Berhmapur University. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by faculty member Bagmi Priyadarshini. A significant number of students and lecturers from various university departments participated in the program, contributing to its success.
